Merry Christmas

Winter Flying

Its cold...very cold. Flying when the temperature is below 32F is miserable but yet you can still find us flying out there. There is only one way to stop yourself from dropping your transmitter and that is to lick your thumbs so they freeze to the sticks. Ok, I don't suggest doing that but sometimes you are shivering so bad you start wondering how you are keeping the transmitter in your hand and flying at the same time. However this still does not stop us from trying to fly when the temperature drops. I still find myself out at 4:00AM trying and fly. I swear to myself that this is the last time and I still find myself flying late at night. I was a little shocked a couple of nights ago when I found out the temp at 03:00 was 11F. I think that is the coldest temp I have ever flown in. I must be nuts...

Weekend October 8 - October 9 2005

Saturday was a good turn out for flying and some new faces. The weather held and was actually comfortable after the sunset for some night flying.

Sunday the wind blew and the temperature dropped which made for a fairly miserable day for flying. Mark G. did his maiden ROG with his GWS C-130 and caught some air. Looks like 4 motors really are better than 2 motors. After the sunset and the wind stopped conditions were great for night flying.

Weekend October 1 - October 2 2005

Saturday- *#*#@ Rain and Wind. I had one report of a member who flew his Wing and had a good time in the the wind until it started to rain.

Sunday turned out to be a good day of flying. We had three maidens. Two Diddlebug type models with one model being a twin motor and one Diamondmox Depron Special.

Weekend September 25 - September 26 2005

Well saturday we got a little taste of what its going to be like flying in November. I hope everyone is ready.

Sunday turned out to be a great for flying. Perfect weather great turn out, and some members birthdays. I wont reveal the names due to their extreme age.

Weekend September 10 - September 11 2005

Well that was one incredible temperature drop on Saturday. There seemed to be a lot of damage to models but on a good note Jet Techs Number 7 had a great maiden and the Number 7 looked incredible in the air. All this from a gas conversion to electric.

Weekend August 27 - August 28 2005

Saturday Mark G. brought streamers to the field for a little Slow Stick Dog Fighting. Fun, Fun, Fun. Well the Dog Fighting started running a little late and considering Mark G. and myself have lights on our Slow Sticks we decided to Dog Fight well after the sun had set.
Tom added a streamer to his tail and we ended up chasing Tom all over the night sky above the field.
I am glad to report that the only damage done was to the streamers

There was a good turnout on Sunday and it was nice to see 2 Tiger Moths flying side by side as the sun was setting.
There was not much night flying done due to wind. This did not stop anyone from standing around and talking shop.

Weekend August 20 - August 21 2005

Nothing beats great weather for flying. Weather conditions where perfect for flying. Saturday was a little slow but as usual we had fun. This includes using R/C car ramps to launch your Slow Stick in the air.
The weather was great for night flying for those who remained at the field after dark.

The turn out was great for Sunday and we had many new flyers. MDG brought out the Ducted Fans and the parking lot also turned out to be a small R/C truck race track along with the ramps.
All in all it was one Great R/C weekend.

Weekend August 13 - August 14 2005

All in all it was a good flying weekend. The sprinklers were on all weekend which did not stop us from flying. The group was a little smaller this weekend than last weekend which is probably a good thing due to the limited ground space for landing. Lets hope next weekend the sprinklers are not on all weekend.

Weekend August 06 - August 07 2005

Well sorry for the delay in updates.

Last weekend was a HUGE flying weekend with Sunday having the greatest single turn out ever. Sunday was also the first time we have had to use frequency clips due to all the flyers. If anyone has pictures of last weekend please email them to me. Once again I forgot my camera.

The frequency of night flying has increased and more people are starting to find the joy in night flying. I think everyone needs to experience this. Hope to see you out there at Fairmont this weekend.

Weekend July 30 - July 31 2005

Saturday was a complete miss on flying due to the wind.

Sunday turned out to be a good flying day later in the evening again due to the wind.
Billy was able to successfully maiden his Multiplex Magister.
At times the sky seemed full of Slow Sticks with the occasional buzz of a Spitfire, Cub or custom Depron models at the hands of Paul and Russ.
Justin drew a small crowd flying parking lot circuits with his E-flite Blade Helicopter.
Sunday was another late night flying night under the stars with John finally getting back to flying with his Slow Stick and Curtek Light Kit.
Welcome back John

Weekend July 23 - July 24 2005

What a great flying weekend. You could tell by the incredible turnout.
Unfortunately I forgot the camera so I have no pictures of this weekend but there were several maidens with the most impressive maiden came from Billy with his new Sig Model. Sure he broke the landing gear several times and destroyed a battery by pushing the pack to far but the model will grace the skys again.

We have a new "rotor head" addict who only brought his helicopter to the field on Saturday ( he knows who he is ).
Both days went really late with several people leaving after 2200 due to the night flying.
Sunday was great for night flying with several Slow Stick Drag races down the runway (parking lot). I should also mention here that you cant compete against a Brushless Slow Stick running a 4 cell lipoly battery pack. Lift off occurs under a foot and its vertical all the way up.
Having lights on the Slow Stick makes for some great late evening fun.

Weekend July 16 - July 17 2005

Saturday was lame. Way too much wind to fly.

Sunday turned out great. Good weather, good fun equals a good time.
We had two new flyers join us which is always good.

The chase was on between my mothball GWS Cub, a GWS E-Starter and a Slow Stick. Kerry clipped my wing of my Cub and there was a tangle of models in the sky several seconds but we broke free from each other and mad good recoveries which drew cheers from the onlookers.
I have to say that flying with a group like we have is fun and makes me look forward to flying weekends.
I would like to thank all those people who have joined us for making the weekends fun to fly. I had a great time today and looking forward to next weekend.

Weekend July 09 - July 10 2005

Saturday was not a pleasant day to fly and was a slow day at the field

Sunday turned into a pleasant day to fly later in the evening. Jason brought out the heli and Bruce and a buddy did a little aerial combat with Slow Sticks. I finally had replaced the lights on my Slow Stick and was able to get some night flying in.
Tom and I were surprised by two Boise Police Officers while I was night flying. Once the two Officers realized it was an Electric R/C model with a lights they stuck around for a few minutes for some friendly chit chat.

Weekend July 02 - July 04 2005

All in all it was a great weekend for flying. I think summer is really here. There were several mishaps but hey thats just part of flying.

Saturday Kerry started off the day with his Slow Stick armed with Pop-Its and Ping Pong Balls.
Kerry was having way to much fun dropping Pop-Its on us in the parking lot so we all found cups and Pop-Its and flew bombing sorties through the parking lot.
When there is four Slow Sticks trying to land at the same time to re-arm with Pop-Its makes for a very crowded runway.
All I can say is everyone who took part in the Pop-It Sorties along with the on lookers had a blast.

Monday the 4th July as the Sun started setting and the smell of Sulphur hung heavy in the air, Paul helped Tom light sparklers on the bottom of Toms model. It made for a sight to be seen considering the sparkler was the only light Tom was flying by.

Weekend June 25 - June 26 2005

Saturday kept almost everyone grounded due to the severe weather storm warning and that nasty wind.

Sunday was a good turn out despite the weird wind. There were several mishaps . There will be repair work done this week :-).

Weekend June 11 - June 12 2005

Saturday gave us about two hours to fly and then came the wind, lightning, thunder and rain. During those two hours Tom was able to snap some pics from the air until his servo stripped some gears.

Sunday was a bust due to the wind. The members who did show up had time for a little shop talk.

Weekend June 4 - June 5 2005

I apologize for not posting any pictures for the past two weekends. I need to remember to take my camera to the field.
Flying for the last two weekends has been a hit and miss with the best flying being late in the evening. I am finding the weather really strange for the month of June. While I enjoy flying in the cooler temperatures since I am not a fan of summer, I know most of you enjoy the summer months.

Lets see what the new weekend has in store for us on the weather side.

Weekend May 21 - May 22 2005

Saturday was a great day for flying.Weather was great with no wind and the sun was out.
Kelly and his son brought out the T-Rex. I have to say this is the first time I have seen someone fly a electric heli without breaking something.

Sunday was a lame day for flying. Where did that wind come from ?
Our new President decided to Maiden a model in the wind. The maiden was a complete success. I would also like to note our President cannot have his identity revealed.
There was not much flying today. I understand someones SS landed in my parents tree on the side of their house.

::---> See Gallery for Pictures of the weekend. Feel free to add your own pics.

Weekend May 14 - May 15 2005

Saturday we had good weather and fair amount of wind but the day was flyable.
We had several visitors stop by and watch and I would like to thank Chris for stopping by to show us his Cub.

Sunday was not a great day to fly. The wind was one unpredictable swirling mass that I found miserable to fly in. Lets hope for better weather next weekend

Weekend April 30 - May 01 2005

On Saturday the sun was out and there was wind but the wind was flyable.
Aeropylot did the maiden on his Camel Tri Plane. This was a great success.
JetTech decided to launch his Camel Bi Plane after Aeropylot had done the maiden on the Camel Tri Plane and a Dog Fight took place over the field.
No damage was done and it left the rest of us dreaming of our own WW1 models that we need to build...to knock these two out of the sky.

Sunday marked the end of a great flying weekend. I think we also recruited 2 new members who I am looking forward to flying with.
I think I am the one who suffered the most damage flying on Sunday and have nothing to fly at all.
Except for a few mishaps from dumb thumbs or other circumstances all models cam out fairly well.
It was great finally seeing Dave fly a SS and he has now handed over the community Outlaw to another flyer.

Weekend April 23 - 24 2005

Sorry this entry is late. It looks like I need someone to take over this job. Any Takers :-)

Well Saturday turned out to be a great day for flying.
Very little wind and the sun was out.
A couple of flyers met at the field and got some flying in and then left to have dinner with Paul at Old Chicago

Sunday was great weather for ducks. All it did was rain. The temperature was decent and was tolerable with a light jacket so of course I decide to fly in the rain.
Rob and Dave stopped by to brave the rain and then Paul and Russ stopped by but only to laugh at us for flying in the rain.
All I have to say is there are modelers and then there are true modelers :-)

Weekend April 16 - 17 2005

Saturday the wind was a little annoying but it was warm. I think it was probably the warmest day of this year so far.
Saturday we were entertained by MDG`s SS equipped with smoke pods on the wings.

On Sunday we had a visitor from across the pond.
Paul aka Veri-Gash who is on Detachment with the The Royal Air Force out at Mountai n Home Air Force Base.
Paul is a member of RAFMAA Royal Air Force Model Aircraft Association and is from Yorkshire England.

Bobdog finally flew his Albatross. Do you think I had my camera ?....
I also spotted a Slow Stick in someones trunk...I wonder who will have a SS in the air next weekend ???

Weekend April 2 -3 2005

The weather was great on Saturday and made for some good flying. This was the day we had been waiting for for the last 5 weeks. I think we broke our record and had 7 models in the air together. What a great sight.

Sunday the wind was a little unfriendly but was flyable. It also made for a very relaxed day of flying not to mention the shop talk was good.
There was some mention of a dog trying to pass a peach pip. Turtlewings can u please explain :-)
As the sun went down the wind came up and the temperature dropped.
We all left the field early. All in all it was a good weekend of flying.
